Glow in the Dark Trophies (Bottles)

12:46

This experiment will work to spice up any black light party, or it will be awesome to just have in your home under your psychedelic black light shrine. This experiment can also be used to make those college time trophies into something cool instead of throwing them away. This experiment is showcased in Episode 6 Go check it out!

How it works:

There are two types of glowing when it comes to glow in the dark [ Fluorescence, and Phosphorescence ] The difference between the two are that fluorescence needs a radiation source to activate it’s glow (black light), and phosphorescence glows all the time. There is also bio-luminescence but we aren't working with living organisms in this project. The highlighter in this experiment is using a form of fluorescence.

What You Need:

  • Clear bottle
  • Water
  • Highlighter

Procedure:

Step One: Remove the ink from the highlighter by removing the back and shaking the ink sponge out.

Step Two: Fill the clear bottle with water.

Step Three: Strain the ink out of the sponge into the water.

Step Four: Close the lid, and shake.

Step Five: Turn on your black light.
